Lian has about 3 decades of experience in law and finance/investments, having graduated with a Bachelor of Law from National University of Singapore and, subsequently, a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University.
Before switching to investments, he practised as a lawyer for about 12 years in top tier firms Drew & Napier, Herbert Smith Freehills and Shearman & Sterling. He has experience in diverse areas, including litigation, commercial arbitration, public international law and mergers & acquisition. At Shearman & Sterling, at the age of 33, he achieved the distinction of being possibly the youngest person to ever head a regional practice group of a white-shoe New York law firm.
After leaving legal practice, Lian joined a boutique investment firm as General Counsel. He was subsequently promoted to Private Equity Director of the firm. In that role, he had responsibility for deal sourcing, deal execution and post-investment project management. In 2018, Lian and a few ex-colleagues co-founded Rivulets Investments. Rivulets Investments has grown steadily since, with four private equity funds now under its management.
Michael Sidaway is the Executive Director and co-founder of the firm. He has 20 years of experience in project management, advisory and investments and holds a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University.
Michael began his career in consulting before co-founding a boutique advisory firm in 2008 focusing on financing, commercialisation and development of natural resources and real estate projects in the Asia-Pacific region. Michael later joined another boutique investment firm as an Investment Manager with responsibility for deal sourcing and analysis, deal execution and post-investment project-management.
Michael co-founded Rivulets Investments in 2018 and continues to manage the firm’s four private equity funds.
Leong Yee Wan is the Operations Director of the firm. She has 17 years of experience in finance and funds management and holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Queensland.
Yee Wan has worked in funds operations at some of the world’s largest financial institutions including Citigroup, Bank of New York Mellon, and HSBC before moving to a client services and operations management role at a boutique investment firm
Yee Wan joined Rivulets Investments in 2018 and leads the firm’s operations and compliance functions.
